Songs that compel me to listen on repeat

You know when you hear a song and you feel compelled to listen to it again. And again. And again? :)

Here's my top 5, not in any particular order. I suggest you wear 🎧 headphones for the best experience.

  • Red Light Spells Danger by Billy Ocean. This is a perfectly crafted pop song. Amazing instrumentation, dynamics, and delivery, coupled with catchy lyrics. The complete package, and it doesn't over-extend its welcome.

  • I Feel Love by Donna Summer. I get totally swept up in this, every time. When this single landed in 1977 it must have felt like an alien invasion. Giorgio Moroder. Legend.
  • Behind Blue Eyes, The Who. Pete Townshend is my favourite guitarist. This track  captures the best of his talents as a songwriter and musician, and those of his fellow band members. The bass lines on this are top notch.
  • Mr Blue Sky, ELO. Bombastic prog rock disguised as pop. Perfect song to play on repeat for long road tips where travellers have an opportunity to refine their synth singing voices :) Shared tin of Lidl pear drops required for the ultimate experience :)
  • Overdose, AC/DC. Malcolm in a bottle. Great road trip song, but doubles as an excellent 'on repeat' option when in the zone at work.

There you go. My five favourite 'can never play only once' songs. It took quite a while to get that down to a list of five :)
